Skagit Valley Highland Games
July 10-11, 2010
Please join us for the 16th annual Skagit Valley Highland Games & Celtic Festival, July 10-11, 2010, at Edgewater Park in Mount Vernon, WA. Held the second full weekend each July, attendance for the Festival surpasses 10,000 people each year. We think of it as a sort of "Scottish 3-ring circus;' with a wide range of activities for young and old alike.
The Skagit Valley Highland Games is part of an annual circut of competitions held in the Pacific Northwest and Lower Mainland of British Columbia. As such, the quality of performers in solo bagpiping and drumming competitions, bagpipe bands, fiddling, traditional Scottish athletics (the "heavy" events) and Highland dancing is at an extremely high level.
World Champions have performed on several ocassions at the Skagit Valley Highland Games. We regularly have competitors visiting our event from Scotland and other parts of the United Kingdom, as well as Australia and New Zealand.

What about pets?
We understand that many visitors to our event really appreciate that we're one of the very few Highland Games left that allows pets. We have made this decision at considerable expense (increased insurance) and because animals have played such a vital role in our culture over the years. Whether sheepdog herding, hunting or just providing companionship, there is a very strong bond with animals in our tradition.
So yes, we allow pets but insist that their masters look after and clean up after them. Please be a responsible pet owner and help us keep this an enjoyable and safe event for everyone.
Water for pets will be available in the Celtic farm area.
