Do I need to be Scottish to come to the Games?
Certainly not! This is an event for everyone, no matter who your ancestors were. If you like learning a bit about another culture, so much the better.

What are the hours of the Games?
9am to 8pm Saturday and 9am to 6pm Sunday

How much does it cost to go to the Games?
We try to keep our prices very reasonable so the Games are easily available to everyone. Buying a two-day pass or a family pass will also save money. For full information on ticket prices go to Tickets.

Where is Mount Vernon and how do I get there?
Mount Vernon, the Best Small City in America, is a small town in the beautiful Skagit Valley, conveniently located right off of Interstate 5. It's about an hour north of Seattle, surrounded by tulip and agricultural fields, and situated between the San Juan Islands and the Cascade Mountains. Please go to Driving Directions for full information.

Can I bring my dog?
You sure can. Pets are welcome. As a courtesy to other Faire goers, please keep your pet on a leash and be prepared to do the clean up work. (You know what we mean!)

Can I wear a costume?
What a great idea! Coming to the Games in a bit of plaid or medieval dress would be a wonderful way to add to your enjoyment and others' enjoyment, too. On the other hand, you won't need a costume to have a good time.

Can I bring food & drink into the Games?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own refreshments, as long as they are not alcoholic. Food and drink are also available for purchase.

What's there to do for kids?
A whole bunch of things! There's a daily schedule of events just for children including storytelling, a kid-sized caber toss, haggis toss and mini-golf. The kids will also enjoy a visit to the Celtic farm where they can check out the Highland cattle and sheep. Don't miss the dog flyball contests where a lot of very excited, noisy dogs race through an obstacle course, rooted on by a very excited, noisy crowd.

Where are the closest camping places?
There is primitive camping right at the Faire grounds, first come, first serve. There's also an RV park a few blocks away or camping at the Skagit County Fairgrounds which is about a mile away. For more information, go to Accommodations.

Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets are available in advance at Scotts Bookstore in downtown Mount Vernon, Watermark Book Co. on Commercial in Anacortes, Stowe's on Fairhaven in Burlington, Snow Goose Book Store in Stanwood, The Next Chapter in La Conner and Cascade Fabrics on Metcalf in Sedro-Woolley, and Dave's Music on State Route 20 in Oak Harbor. You can also purchase tickets when you arrive at the Games.

How can I be a Games volunteer?
We were hoping you'd ask that question! We'd love to have you join our very friendly group of both Scottish and un-Scottish folk. Please go to About Us for information on how to sign up.

Does the Games make a profit?
The Skagit Valley Highland Games & Scottish Faire is part of the Celtic Arts Foundation, a non-profit organization, so any profit gained from the Games is put back into improvements, new programs or into the CAF scholarship program. Please go to About Us for more information.
