The 19th annual Robert Burns Scottish Evening will be held Saturday, January 15th 2011 at Hillcrest Lodge in Mount Vernon. This is the event that started it all for the Celtic Arts Foundation; a fun and important opportunity to gather and hear the words of the great Scottish poet, Robert Burns, enjoy traditional meal, drink, entertainment and friends. Winter School for FiddlersHosted at the Seabeck Conference Center near Silverdale, WA, the Winter School for Fiddlers provides an inspiration and fun setting for music. While learning from experts in Scottish and Cape Breton-style fiddling, this is a tremendous opportunity for players of all levels. Check out Winter School Dates & Fees page to learn more. Mastery of Scottish Arts ConcertFeaturing several of the world's best bagpipers, Scottish drummers, fiddlers and Highland dancers; direct from Scotland, Northern Ireland and Eastern Canada - this concert is being held at Benaroya Hall in downtown Seattle of February 4, 2011. One of North America’s premier acoustic facilities, it’s as if Benaroya Hall were built for bagpipes. Virtuoso performances with some great Scottish banter and wit – the Mastery of Scottish Arts Concert is a must-see event! Go to our concert page and related links to find out more. Winter School for Pipers & DrummersJust like our Winter School for Fiddlers, the Winter School for Pipers & Drummers is also hosted at the Seabeck Conference Center near Silverdale, WA. This is an opportunity to spend a week with many of the best pipers and drummers in the business. Learn lots of new music and styles, whether you are looking to add to your repertoire or start one - there is no better instructional school available anywhere! Check out Winter School Dates & Fees page to learn more. CAF Annual Membership MeetingOur Annual Membership Meeting will be held on Jan. 7th, 2011, at Skagit Station, in Mt. Vernon, WA. Are you looking for a way to become involved with our organization? We invite anyone who is interested in the work we do to join the Celtic Arts Foundation. Whether or not your ancestry is from the British Isles, we are an up-and-coming organization with a great track record of producing quality events and educational activities that sponsor, encourage and promote Celtic culture in the Pacific Northwest. St. Patrick's Day Ceilidh-brationCAF Members and their guests are invited to join us for our Irish Ceilidh-bration! (Pronounced /kay-lay-bra-shun/) A ceilidh is a Celtic social evening (party) with music, dancing, tasty food and beverages. Join us for a social hour, followed by a traditional dinner of corned beef, cabbage, beer and Irish whisky, and great music to enjoy with friends! This St. Patrick's Day celebration will be a foot-stompin' good time and is not to be missed! Scotch-tasting GalaOur annual Scotch-tasting Gala will be on May 21, 2011 and will be presented by Diageo, one of the world's largest spirits organizations. We'll be learning more about pairing whiskys with food; what works with spicy foods, what appetizers would work best with a specific single malt or blend and why. It promises to be very informative and fun! Go to this link to get more details. Held on July 9 - 10, 2011, attendance for the Festival surpasses 10,000 people each year. We think of it as a sort of "Scottish 3-ring circus;' with a wide range of activities for young and old alike.The Skagit Valley Highland Games is part of an annual circut of competitions held in the Pacific Northwest and Lower Mainland of British Columbia. As such, the quality of performers in solo bagpiping and drumming competitions, bagpipe bands, fiddling, traditional Scottish athletics (the "heavy" events) and Highland dancing is at an extremely high level.
