Scotch-tasting Gala

The time and place are set for our 2011 Scotch-tasting; Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Hillcrest Lodge at Hillcrest Park in Mount Vernon.  Social time is from 6:00 to 6:30pm, with the tasting to commence at approximately 6:30.  Dinner to follow the tasting.

Driving directions to 1717 South 13th Street, Mount Vernon, WA 98274:

From Bellingham area – traveling South on -5, take the Kincaid Street exit (#226). At the end of the exit, turn left back under freeway, and continue up the hill (this is called Broad Street). You’ll pass a school on your right, and approximately 3 blocks past the school, turn right onto 13th Street (heading south). Hillcrest Park is about 5 blocks down on the right side of the street, entrance clearly marked. The Hillcrest Park Lodge is in the middle of the park – lots of parking.

Due to Washington State liquor control laws, this fund-raising event is not open to the general public, but is by invitation only. This program is a fundraising activity for the Celtic Arts Foundation, and features a traditional Scottish meal, and an incredible selection of fine Scotch Whiskies.

A slideshow of the Scotch-tasting held on May 2, 2009 is now available on this page of our website.  The event was a rousing success for the Celtic Arts Foundation - raising more than $25,000 on the evening.  Thanks to everyone who supported us with their generous contributions.  Special thanks to our sponsors, Cascade Mall, Cowen Vineyards, Singleton Whisky, and also another special thank you to Mr. Ari Shapiro, a Master of Scotch with Diageo, who provided such a great explanation of food pairings with blended and single malt whisky.  Finally - what a great team of volunteers we had for the event!
