Group Workshops
There are two levels of group workshops offered, Mild/Medium and Medium/Spicy. The reflects the speed of the classes are taught at, and the previous Cape Breton music experience of the students who would be a good fit for each selection. All classes are taught by ear, but students are encouraged to record tunes during class to bring home to practice.
Friday offers instrument-specific classes, focusing on fiddle and piano. Saturday offers 'all instrument' classes, suitable for players of flutes, smallpipes, mandolins, cellos, and more! :)
Private Lessons
Limited private lesson opportunities are available on Thursday, November 5th between 11am and 4pm. Lessons are 45-minutes and will take place at the Littlefield Celtic Center. Please inquire asap as these will fill up quickly. Email Cayley@CelticArts.org
Coffee Chat
Saturday from 1:30pm-2:15pm, join Andrea and Troy for a casual Q & A. A great time to ask all your best Cape Breton music questions. :)
Session
Our regular Sunday Scottish Session will be hosted this month by Troy and Andrea on Sunday, November 8th from 11am-2pm.
Concerts
Two special concerts are taking place during this weekend. Andrea and Troy will be performing Friday night at 6:30pm at the Littlefield Celtic Center. Katie McNally and Neil Pearlman will be performing Sunday afternoon at 4pm after the session.

Raised in Lanark, Nova Scotia, his musical prowess can be attributed to an especially rare combination of commitment and bloodline. By the age of six, Troy was already impressing audiences with his step dancing skills. By 13 he was teaching piano at the renowned Gaelic College of Celtic Arts and Crafts in St. Anne’s, Cape Breton. He has completed grade seven of the Toronto Conservatory of Music for classical piano, has spent four years in a stringed orchestra and has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music from St. Francis Xavier University.
Andrea Beaton is an award-winning fiddler, composer, and recording artist who tours and teaches internationally, and is in great demand as a teacher at music camps and fiddling/dancing workshops. Coming from a long line of musicians, composers and dancers, the Mabou native is known for her powerful bow and driving style. Andrea has released seven solo albums, one duo album with her father, Kinnon Beaton, and published three books of her original tunes. She also recorded on an album with her family, The Beaton Family of Mabou, in 2007 for the Smithsonian Institute. Her 2010 CD, Branches, won the East Coast Music Award for Instrumental Recording of the Year, and most of her solo albums were nominated for awards. In 2019, Andrea’s duo with Quebec fiddler Véronique Plasse received two East Coast Music Award nominations for their self-titled album, Beaton-Plasse. Later in 2019, she teamed up with Troy MacGillivray to play a dance in Creignish which was recorded for their Independent Music Award-nominated album Face the Music. Andrea’s latest album, Hindsight is 2020, is a retrospective compilation of tracks from her first six albums.
