These Thursday sessions are open to anybody who plays the Highland Pipes or Smallpipes.
Our focus will be primarily on fundamentals such as: Instrument Maintenance, Tuning, Maintaining Steady Pressure, Reed Calibration/Manipulation, and Playing Music. These sessions will not follow a set curriculum. The focus of each session may shift depending on the needs of attendees. In general, the Highland Pipes Drop-in sessions are ideal for students making the transition from chanter to the Highland Pipes, for any Highland Piper looking to better their understanding of the instrument, and any piper in need of targeted focused support on any topic. Smallpipes drop-in sessions offer support to players of both Bellows-Driven and Mouth-Blown Scottish Smallpipes or Borderpipes. Students transitioning from practice chanter to Smallpipes and students new to Bellows-Driven Smallpipes would greatly benefit from these sessions, as would experienced players in need of targeted support. In every session, there will be time devoted to playing tunes as a group on your instrument.
Drop-in sessions will be led by Zephan Knichel, Vienna Scheyer, and Kyle Gaul.
Each drop-in session will take place on Thursdays between January and March, 7:15pm-8:30pm.
Students can pre-pay for sessions online in 1, 2, or 4 session packs (see below), or they can be paid for in-person at the sessions.
