Have you ever wondered if a dead reed can be saved, or what parameters make a reed play a certain way? Would you like to try making a reed yourself with the guidance of someone who has been making them for over 20 years professionally?

EJ Jones is leading an afternoon class where each attendee will be given the chance to make their own Scottish smallpipe reed. Pre-gouged slips of cane will be provided and there will be a demonstration of hand-gouging. We will be talking about the different qualities of cane, sourcing, and all the steps from raw cane to finished reed. All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring any reed-making tools you already have, like your favorite knife, cutting mat..etc.
